James Beige a.k.a. Pk Chown and Sam Coppen are a 2-headed DJ/ producer team from the UK now living and performing in Basel, Switzerland.

   Already working together for more than 20 years, Sam and pk are musicians in the traditional sense - playing live Bossa Nova together in sister project The Blue Planet Sound -  are music lovers before everything, world travellers, collectors of classic vinyl recordings, DJs and cultivators of beautiful hip sounds. People dedicated to great music for ears, feet and heart.

  As DJ's they belong to the Electronic Tribal collective in Switzerland and perform regular nights of blistering crossover global beats. Mashed-up mambo, Balkan breakdowns, Chinese cha-cha, electro-samba and Brazilian funk.

  James Beige is the studio project of this two-headed monster. Originally conceived as a vehicle for the duo's more diverse tastes and ideas, James morphs many styles and sounds into one yet always ends up sounding like himself.  Latin, soul, bossa nova, trip hop, samba, afro, breakbeat, exotica and gypsy music all find a voice in the technicolor World of James Beige.

  His 2004 album '4 Shades of Beige' was a landmark of dizzy loungecore and Braziliance from which 'Nightingirl' went on to grace many a compilation for labels like Stereo Deluxe and Irma.

 The latest 2010 recording 'Crossanova' is still hot off the harddisc. James first ep for Kraak released in February 2011 features five top tunes from the album.
